Big Ben

Completing these backblips has been quite a challenge. Almost done though. This entry is being written on the 29th.

We started off the day by visiting Big Ben. We walked around it and then went towards Westminster Abbey. We didn't go in the Abbey because their was a ridiculous admission fee which was really pricey; and don't forget to consider we were in the land of the pound. Instead we walked around it and saw some pretty interesting statues above the main entrance. I noticed there were figures with glasses. I thought immediately, this was not a Catholic church, which I had known already, but the statues confirmed it. We bought some souvenirs at the Abbey gift shop and then we went to a café to have a cappuccino and to use the restroom.

After that we walked towards Buckingham Palace. We passed the park and saw a marching band preparing to play. We waited for them to start and then they marched to the palace. We trailed them after checking out the outside of the building they came from. When we got to the palace, I was not impressed. The palace was some regular old building and it was just really ordinary. There was a lot of people in front of the palace, so we waited a while until something happened. But nothing happened; however, the band did start playing movie music, such as Star Wars, etc.

Next we got hot dogs at St. James Park. We ate them and then went to go sit on the lawn chairs on the green. We didn't know we had to pay for the chairs so a man came over and charged us about two something pounds.

After we sat there for a while, I needed to use the bathroom again. We went to a Starbucks and then headed towards Harrod's. Harrod's is London's high end shopping center. I just wanted to see it. Everything in that store was so expensive, so we didn't stay long. So the next thing we decided to do was to take a nap back at the hostel. We went back napped for a while and then went to the Science Museum.

The Science Museum was really interesting, but we went so late that we didn't really get to enjoy it. We just sped through all the exhibits. Luckily though, admission was free. When we were done there we looked in our guide book for a cheap place to eat. We found someplace ridiculously far from where we were, but it was a fun adventures to get there. This is the kind of exploring I like to do. Just go to a random place in a city and see all the hidden parts not all tourists see.

Well, we got to the place we were looking for, but we didn't really like their menu. We did though see a Pho restaurant. Pho is a Vietnamese noodle cuisine. The restaurant was really nice and the food was good. The service did suck, so I only tipped 5%. The lady failed to bring me water and she kept on pushing me to order food that I didn't intend on ordering. Anyway, it was a good place, we sat right next to the window. It was a nice way to end the day.
