tempus fugit

Wise trees

All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.
William Carlos Williams

I often step outside to see the moon shining through the branches of this old ash tree but you will just have to imagine it.
The tree is affected by ash die-back so it remains to be seen how many years of attiring it has. It will be a sad loss when it ceases to prepare new buds.
