LOOKING THROUGH THE FRONT WINDOW OF MI CASA

Many of you may have heard that the midwest of the U.S. is experiencing some poor weather.  It's called a Bomb Blizzard....no I'm not sure why.  There are specific meteorological criteria that must be met to get that designation.....no, I don't know what those criteria are.

When I awoke this morning it was -10°F (-23°C) and the wind was howling at 35mph (56kph) with gusts to 50+mph (80+kph).  The wind chill right now is -29°F (-34°C) and going lower.  That's life threatening cold and will freeze flesh in minutes if caught out in it. So the plan is to stay inside and think warm thoughts.

I'm pulling various images off my hard drives while working on a Zoom presentation I have been asked to do.  It's good to keep busy inside when the weather outside sucks.

The "haze" you see in the photo is not lack of contrast due to poor photographic skills.....it's blowing snow...really fine snow like powdered sugar.  You'll notice bare surfaces in some places where the wind has.....redistributed the snow to other areas and made big drifts that are head height.  Look carefully at the neighbor's garage in the distance and you'll see a drift that is at least neck high.  I've always liked the juxtaposition, the irony, of having bare spots and tall drifts and not much in between.  It's like valleys, mountains and no plateaus.

Best seen in Large.  Stay warm...pull up that feather quilt and hibernate for the evening. Did someone say mulled wine?
