Dawnlit Whiskers

Aduro in the early morning sunshine.

Third trip to Évora this week (two hours return trip), this time to take a sick three-year-old to the doctor's.

Today's reading from Darkling really spoke to me; six years faithfully going to church here in Mourão, but still very much an outsider:

All the inns were full.

It is an evocative detail, one that says more than it says...

The divine is usually found in the margins. In the voice calling in the wilderness. In the strangers that get turned away.

God is an outcast...

All the inns were full. So don't worry if you find yourself on the outside.

Outcast God,
Help us not to despise the discomfort of new birth in our lives. Give us strength and conviction in those moments where we find ourselves on the outside. Thank you that you are there in the wilderness. Open our eyes to help us see what might be happening in the darkling hills.

Gratefuls:
- long chats with two of our kids today
- eating marrons glacés for the first time in my life - delicious!
- Mike shelling the pistachios for me to make pistachio tiramisù while I depitted the cherries for the boozy cherry part
