Christmas Eve parkrun

It was our Christmas Eve parkrun this morning, and the fiftieth time I’ve volunteered, resulting in a shoutout from the run director, then a round of applause from the parkrunners and walkers.

I got to dog-sit lovely Luna for the first time in a while. She is the sweetest dog. Her dad gives me a bag with sweeties in for her, which is the only way I can get her to stop staring at the last place she saw him once parkrun gets underway. In the bag today, there was also a gift bag. The tag said it was for me from Luna. How lovely. Lovely Luna.

Mr Pandammonium took it home for me and put it under the tree. When I got home, Mr Perkins gave it a big sniff. A big sniff.

But I know all you’re really interested in is how I got on with the gloves.

I kept my fingers covered in the gaps between clumps of participants, and flipped the hood open when the participants came. Being able to free my thumb and cover my thumb was great, too, because I really need my thumbs out, and it helps if they’re not frozen.

In conclusion, my fingers, although not completely toastie because of having to have them out for some time, were so much warmer than usual. I didn’t lose feeling in them as I have in the past, and I didn’t have to warm them up on my neck, which my neck hates. The gloves are great, and I love them, and I’m so pleased I got them.
