To the pub

Another relaxing day. I potter around making a sauce for spaghetti - ham, tomato, pea, and paprika. Even Angus seemed to like it.

After lunch, Mum goes for a nap, while Angus and I walk along the canal to Great Bedwyn. It’s not warm, but it’s still a very pleasant walk.

The Post Office is shut, but the Londis corner shop is open until 6. We decide to visit the pub first, and do shopping later.

The Three Tuns is fairly busy. We perch at the bar and order a couple of pints. The Best from the Ramsbury Brewery is dark, bitter, and weak enough to drink a few pints.

Around three, the place begins to get much more crowded. A posse of local youth arrive, raising the decibel levels considerably. We fall into a lively conversation with a couple of them.

I leave Angus there and head home via the shop. Tea with mum, potatoes baking in the oven, brassica greens to wash and slice, beef stew to reheat. And I find the Scrabble set.

Angus returns not long after six. We talk animatedly in the kitchen until the food is ready. And then he has to decide whether to go back to the pub or stay in. He chooses to stay and we watch Jackie Brown.
