Christmas Day

Happy Christmas to everyone! I hope that everyone has had a wonderful day.

We had a slow start to the day, the first thing I did this morning was to make the trifle while I was waiting for everyone to get ready. Then with delicious coffee brewed by Adam (he is a bit of a coffee specialist) we sat around the Christmas tree and opened our presents. By the time we finished it was late morning - Adam made such a delicious breakfast, scrambled eggs with salmon and chives, which we only ate at about 11.30am.

After tidying up after breakfast I then started on the Christmas lunch. I always create a schedule of timings and work from there - turkey in the oven first, soon joined by the stuffed lamb, then roast potatoes, roasted carrots and parsnips glazed in maple syrup, individual stuffings, pigs in blankets(there are two ovens as all that won't fit in one!) I made the brussel sprouts with bacon and chestnuts and also red cabbage on the cooker while that was all roasting. We watched the King's Speech and then lunch/dinner was served at about 3.45pm, a bit later than planned but after the late breakfast we did not need to eat earlier. The meal was rather delicious, even if I say so myself - I did think of those not eating such a generous meal today, and I hope that my donation to The Trussel Trust - a charity that keeps food banks going - will allow some people to enjoy a warm dinner today.

Here are some photos from our meal. Adam proposed we discuss our greatest achievements of the year, where we can improve, something we want to do more or, something we want to do less of, our favourite quotes ...it was a fun discussion. We video called my family in South Africa and also the family in Canada, great that technology allows us to share Christmas wishes across the world.

Santa was very generous this year ... one of my goals this year was to play better golf and that may very well be helped by my new golf clubs that I got! I was struggling playing with the very old clubs I was using, they were so heavy and such old technology, and they were an incomplete set so I had to borrow clubs from our coach.

Now it is board games and I hope I get a chance to watch some Christmas TV.
