Usually we make small beer from malt exract in Christmas.

This year we skipped it in Christmas but made it now, afterwards. Before making it, we tried to buy it from a grocery store, but it was sold-out. Instead there was Kvass (in the picture), Slavic small beer. I had never heard of it. It is made from rye malt, water and sugar, often also with barley and wheat malt. Real Kvass is made from a mash obtained of rye bread. It tasted quite strange, much like Finnish 'Mämmi' made from rye (I introduced Mämmi here as a brand new blipper see). After smacking it for a while it began to taste even good:)

In Extra you see our Finnish small beer put to ferment, for the New Year, which I hope is good for you all:)
