Happy New Year (a day late)!

A very busy day. Making trifle, lentil soup, preparing all the veg - but two doing it is much more manageable. S likes chopping the veg which I don’t esp for a big pot of soup.

Wasn’t sure mum would manage with her cough ( a struggle cos when it happens it can leave her breathless). We did try NHS 24 at one stage for some advice but it was a 2 hour wait to speak to someone so called my SIL instead, she’s a Band 7 so plenty nursing experience.

It was great having family round the table again missing out in the Christmas meal wasn’t great. Ok less to do but lacking in atmosphere and tradition.

We had the traditional steak pie which was so good, from Lindsay’s our butcher. A 3lb pie worked well for us. We had mash, roast pots, cauli cheese, Brussels, broccoli, carrots and extra gravy if needed but it didn’t. Then we had my home made trifle which everyone always loves. Later though. I’ve not eaten as much for a long time and my stomach wasn’t that happy. Back to the usual grub from the 2nd.

We had a couple of games of Metro. Ben had eaten too much sweet stuff and was hyper! Laura was going to walk down the road home with him but she had in stupid little boots that she would have went her length going downhill. Funny to see but with A and E stretched to the limit it’s not worth the risk.

Everyone had a good day, we took mum home a d then back sitting after tidying up by 9:45 and managed an episode of DA to finish off a lovely day.

Strangely, I didn’t take many photos, a couple of videos so none of the gang of us, only me and my travel sidekick.
