Damn Fine Dam

This was the new Alqueva dam when it shut its gates over twenty years ago, but certainly looking its age now. It's still the largest dam in Western Europe - you can see a van in the middle of the photo for scale, and the Lake (which our Land is near) the largest as well - around 250 sq m when it's full. It first filled in 2010, and is about two metres off being full again now.

The river is the Guadiana, which flows through Badajoz in Spain and comes out on the border between Spain and Portugal down on the south coast.

Still not feeling great, but decided an outing would be a good idea, and it was; so encouraging to see the water rising and the Land all green again. And seeing herons, grebes, and other birds at the dam.

Gratefuls:
- one of my NY wishes coming true already! so excited...
- more yummy leftovers for lunch
- my inhalers making a difference
