Walking with dawn on our shoulders

Here's a poem from within another of the volumes I received for Christmas - this one also published in 2022:

Creation

Let me keep the fig-leaf as a souvenir;
memories of here for when I'm gone,
when my eyes bleed everything they've seen,
let the sense of longing be as a prayer.

Dreaming we had everything
and nothing was too much
to call into being,
we called ourselves into leaving.

Walking with dawn on our shoulders,
night at our backs,
the point of no returning
gone before we knew.

Let me keep the story of a garden,
a precious place where I can hide.
While my eyes bleed for things
they'll never see,

bless me with a sense
of finally arriving.
