A classic Blackburn street...

...Wensley Road to be precise. Blackburn has some amazingly long straight streets and because everything is built on hills sometimes, as here, you can see a real long way. I came across this view as Brambleblossom and I walked Bramble and got a good breather ourselves. The roads were wet but we managed the whole walk without getting rained on. 5 minutes after we got back...
A bit later we visited Rawtenstall and "Britains Last Original Temperance Bar" Mr Fitzpatrick's. We had tried to visit it before but it was shut whenever we visited the town. This gave me something of a dim view of Rawtenstall, a place where it was cold, wet and windy and the cafe was shut! Today we checked in advance and after a brief walk in the rain we gladly crowded into the small "bar". Wonderful service, good food, tasty traditional drinks; it was definitely worth giving the town and temperance bar another go! Check out HarlingDarling's and Brambleblossom's blip for a bit more information.
