Glass

This morning we drove down to the Maltings to see the film Armageddon Time. As you can see from the photograph, the main entrance to the building was roped off as there was a large repair job in progress to replace the broken glass side panel wrecked by vandals last year. The cost of the replacement glass must have been quite significant and, whilst probably covered by insurance, in the end someone pays. Why do people do such stupid and pointless things in what is a public building?

The film was watchable if not completely enthralling. A coming of age story set in 1980s New York, it explores themes of inequality and prejudice. Anthony Hopkins was marvellous as the grandfather and the two young actors who 'come of age' - Banks Repeta and Jaylin Webb - were amazing.

After the film we met friends for lunch at The Duke of Cambridge in Tilford. It was very pleasant to have a good catch up and the food was very good. By the time we left it was getting dark and an almost full moon was visible.

This evening we watched episode three of the John Stonehouse series. Definitely a case of fact being stranger than fiction.
