James Watt, Artist

In Inverclyde today, first with staff who have the responsibility for developing Enterprise in the authority and then in Notre Dame HS.

The first meeting and the input of the staff there has led to another four schools requesting workshops in June so we'll have to put on an extra day, which is great.

This shot is from the classroom of the teacher in Notre Dame where her S3 class had been using the BBC Your Paintings site, and other sites, to investigate the work of James Watt.

The internet and the ability to project the sites meant that details of the paintings could be zoomed in on and discussed in depth by the class.

Various ideas are being considered about how pupils could take forward their work on James Watt, and it could well involve both practical and critical activity. Lots of possibilities, including working with other schools, being considered. Should be good for Greenock pupils to explore artwork of places so local to them, and an artist from so close to their school.

Welcome Notre Dame!
