Coordinating

It was Ark weather in Myrtle Park this morning for Parkrun.  Putting out the course was quite challenging as the cones kept floating away on the ever expanding puddles.  By the time the runners began to arrive it looked like the bandstand had developed a moat and I took the decision to put the timers and scanners out of the worst of the rain under its roof.  The meadow was saturated, slippy, boggy and worsening through the four laps and the runners were passing us looking as if they had rolled in the mud.

All this weather did not dampen the walkers', runners' or volunteers' spirits and there was much applause and encouragement, particularly for those who had reached milestones.  One regular family topped the milestones board with the two youngest children (four year old today!) doing their first parkruns; big sister completing her 25th; mum going for her 200th and gran for her 250th!  Awesome achievements all, especially in the torrid weather.

Whilst doing the rounds of the course and checking that the volunteers were not suffering with hypothermia, I spotted J with dog V and thought how lovely her rainbow brolly looked in the gloom, and how she was coordinated with the cones she was marshalling.
