Better known.

Yesterday when I blipped a stained glass window in Arnside Parish Church, fellow Blipper Lathyrus asked me if it was made by Shrigley and Hunt.
As it happens it was not. I am not an expert in stained glass but I did know that we had some well known windows in the Church.

This is St. Oswald and St. George, one of three by this well known company.

The business was founded in Lancaster in 1750 as Shrigley’s, a painting, carving and guilding company.
In 1868 control passed to Arthur Hunt, a Londoner who produced stained glass and ceramic tiles in the south of England. It specialised in windows for churches. It continued to be based in Lancaster and windows can be found in many churches throughout the UK and in Europe.

We are fortunate to have two of their windows in Arnside Parish Church.
