Angels in the architecture

Cloudy, wet and windy - unpleasant for man and dog but ideal for photographing stained glass. This is one of a pair of superb quatrefoil windows high up in the tracery above the large west window of St Mary the Virgin in Hambleden. Its a late Victorian Clayton & Bell window with two lancets largely obscured by thick velvet curtains that create a makeshift storage area. My eye was drawn to the quatrefoils visible above the curtains so I ventured in and clambered around the spare chairs and old hymn books to get a vantage point. The angels hold scrolls that describe the scenes in the main window below.
