Trapped on a Tram

Four fire engines had just arrived to deal with a hotel fire when our tram got to Haymarket. Not a problem on our side of the street except that as we were moving away from the tram stop the driver realised one of the engines was too close to the tracks and he couldn’t get past. Trapped on a full to the gunnels tram! Much humming and hawing ensued (no way was the fire engine moving) until we were allowed to get off through the last tram door but only because it was still level with the platform. To be honest I was all set for a long delay - my coat pockets were filled with cans of beer that I’d just won at the tenpin!
