Here there and everywhere

An Expensive View

We both worked online until mid afternoon and then walked out into, yes you guessed it, the rain!  I even wore cotton trousers and a long sleeve cotton top as it was a bit cold. We walked along the front past Copacabana Palace and I must say the world famous beach was looking a bit sorry for itself!  After toying with different late lunch/early dinner options we chose to go back to our usual Saturday place for our usual Saturday feijoada. Good as always! On the walk along the front we always like to look at the hotel and flat buildings, see what's new, what's closed, what's been renovated.  We noticed that the Portobay Hotel looked like it'd been renovated, at least the facade and reception areas, so popped inside for a look. We asked about prices for carnaval, just out of interest. At 1,200 euros per night, we'll give the rooms a miss (!) and be happy with the view we got from the 20th floor pool area, which you can see here - Copacabana beach, looking towards Ipanema.

At night we watched 'In Bruges', slightly less dark than last night's Banshees film with the same actors. Fantastic acting in both though.
