‘Looking Sad’

A rather damp and miserable day today with heavier periods of rain too! I ventured out in the car mid-afternoon to do some Lidl (rather than Waitrose) shopping that I walk to.

My route passed the site of the old Royal Victoria Hospital, designed in the late 19th century to treat TB with sun and fresh air but latterly specialising in older people before being finally decommissioned around five years ago.

This rather sad-looking building rather suited today's weather, I thought.

It's the East Lodge at the entrance of the former Hospital. The Scottish record of historic monuments describes it as “an unusual Arts and Crafts style asymmetrical lodge atop [a] tall Tudor arched stone entrance pend to former hospital site”.
