Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition - NHM

A nice day out in London..first a visit the Natural History Museum to see the Wildlife Photographer of the year exhibition. Some amazing photographs from around the world. I have not been for a few years and one of the things that struck me was quite a few photographs were taken with drones. Some like wildebeest in Tanzania looked quite like shots taken from a plane but the blip I have put here was from a drone…it’s from Guatemala to show the contrast between the forest and the algal growth in a lake.  The sewage waste from Guatemala City promotes the growth of algae so that the natural wetlands are being destroyed. It was quite depressing that quite a few photographs showed problems of this sort or caused by humans harming the environment in some way. The extra is another photo taken by a drone in India showing so many marlin and sailfish caught one morning….serious overfishing which is affecting the balance of the ecosystems there.
All the photos are available to see on the Natural History Museum website so I would recommend viewing.

After that a quick browse in Harrods and then to lunch at the Lanesborough Hotel at Hyde Park Corner with friends. A lovely lunch, excellent food and such good service from all the staff in nice surroundings. ( It was a good Travelzoo deal and such good value compared to very average high street restaurants ,) I have been to this hotel before( previously  St George’s Hospital before it moved to Tooting) and am always impressed.
