Aliens have already landed

… and are grouping at the municipal tip. Those telescopes disguised as oast houses missed this tranche of invaders who are now poised to liberate domestic appliances all over the borough.

It’s been a slow blip day, the weather was appropriately dismal having not stopped raining all day. We went to the tip to dispose of the defunct fridge, some shoes and a load of batteries.

We ended up with a wet walk in the rapidly gathering gloaming only to have to go out again in the rain for a full parish council meeting this evening.

Since the last meeting in November, the chair, vice chair and two other councillors have resigned and the clerk is off sick. Part of tonight’s meeting was to elect a new chair, and vice chair and co-opt volunteers to fill the vacancies. All was achieved.

There was some anticipation that tonight might see the end of Project A and an end to the battle to save our allotments. Parish politics being what they are this didn’t happen. However, the owner of the land donated to the Parish has asked for it back. Some legalities have to be ironed out before the council can vote on his request.

I dare say there will be a huge collective sigh of relief when Project A is finally abandoned. Then we can all start to help rebuild trust and confidence in our Council.
