Boots

I went to pick up my new boots today from a shop in Thistle Street.  It's been quite a search.

These public artworks on Thistle Street were commissioned in 2012 to help regenerate the area.  Astrid Jackel was asked to design something that featured the work of the 'Rose Street Poets', a group who met in the pubs in the area in the 1950s and 60s and she settled on the Beachcomber by George Mackay Brown. Each of the seven verses is reflected in the seven laser cut steel panels.  The poem starts with the verse:

"Monday I found a boot -
Rust and salt leather
I gave it back to the sea to dance in."

Earlier we had been to see "Empire of Light" at the Cameo which we thought was outstanding.
