Banana Flats, Leith

I was down in Leith this morning trying out a yoga class at South Leith Parish Church Halls.  Nearby is Cable Wynd House known locally as 'the banana flats' because of the curved shape.  They came to prominence in Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting novel.  The brutalist architectural flats have since been rated as one of the finest post-war buildings and have A listed status.

I rather like the more recent history when during Covid lockdown locals belted out The Proclaimers 'Sunshine on Leith' song from their balconies!
