If you can't beat them...

Robin ( Erithacus rubecula )

It is a while since I have resorted to a bird from the window blip.  This Robin does something I have never known a Robin do before.  It flies up and grabs some seed from the feeder while frantically "hovering" (I put hovering in inverted commas as it is the most ungainly attempt to stay in one place while flying I have ever seen.)

There are around 50% more Robins now than there were in the late 60s and early 70s.  The Atlas survey of 2007 -11 shows Robins in almost every tetrad (2x2 km) throughout the UK.  The few which didn't were about half a dozen or so in the very highest and wildest parts of NW Scotland.

Yet another very wet day morning at home the afternoon visiting Kanyl and keeping equally dry, hence the shot of the Robin through the window.
