An Australasian Crested Grebe …

….. ….. ….. sheltering in the shade at the south end of Lake Hayes today. It looked like it was floating on the reflections. It’s native to New Zealand and it’s Māori name is Pūteketeke.

I set out to walk along the north side of the lake, but we ended up walking around all of it. There was little wind so the reflections of the mountains were great, and I was going to Blip one of those photos, but grebes are a favourite and I couldn’t resist.
