a lifetime burning

Seeking a dry perch

The magpie underestimated the strength and gustiness of the wind when it initially approached the fence post, and some aerial balletics ensued while it lined itself up for a second go.  That watery area is usually grass, as this is the river meadow, which is now  under several feet of fast flowing water.

The local rivers are in full flood, (flood gates upstream in Bath having been opened), and things are due to get interesting shortly, as its low tide at present.  Some of the roads near the rivers are already impassable unless you are wearing waders and feeling brave.  There will, presumably, be a tidal surge tonight to make things worse.  Then of course, we are due for more rain all day tomorrow.  Interesting times.  I'm so glad that we don't live in a houseboat.
