Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

City Date

Art Date:   Decided to go to the Seattle Art Museum as we hadn’t yet seen the exhibit of these 2 marvelous photographers, Dawoud Bey and Carrie Mae Weems, and it’s going to close soon.   I’m so glad we did…humbles one , these are so strong and historical and documentary and just plain gorgeous.  Please have a look here if you have time.      Also the American Art section has been completely redone in an innovative installation “American Art: The Stories We Carry "which includes Native art and modern and contemporary art collaboratively curated.   It was fascinating.

But now we’re over saturated with great  images and go for our daily walk…downtown …and through the Pike Place Market  which was teeming with people on a sunny warm Saturday!   I used to spend a lot of time here and loved it but haven’t been there for years…before covid, and before the viaduct along the waterfront was taken down.    So I’m going to blip the view from the market space looking south with the beginnings of Overlook Walk and Ocean Pavillon and the Seattle Aquarium.  (check out the overlook plan...Overlook Walk.   MY photo is from the "market front"    Because this will change.  You can see Mount Rainier to left of those ubiquitous cranes.   I would have cropped off the top but I like the birds.

It was so crowded I could barely stop for a photo and certainly not for food.   So we thought we’d look at the cafe at SAM and get their excellent takeout food before getting our car.   Well, just as we arrived, the entire Art Museum building was being evacuated!!!!  wouldn’t say why.   Lots of sirens, police and fire trucks!   No elevators were working so we had to walk down several floors of ramps  (more steps!) to get our car in the lot and were very happy to get home to our little quiet cocoon.  Whew!
And I can’t find out what it was….will update when I get the news.

Added a collage of museum and Market including a block long line for the original Stabucks.
