Wound up in Wexford

Boats in the bay

The forecast for today was for mainly dry weather, so we were pretty frustrated to hear the rain when we woke.  But after a leisurely start, and our Sunday poached eggs, the sky started to clear  and we could even see some blue.

So we quickly got ourselves together and went out for a short drive.  When we were coming back from Rinville a few weeks ago, I had seen a castle in the distance, so today we set out to find Ardfry Castle.  And in extras is a collage of a more closeup view of the dereliction for Derelict Sunday.

We couldn't get any closer, as it's private property.  And there's a castle further down the peninsula - Olde Farside Castle  - but we ran out of road before reaching it.  Maybe we'll try walking if we get some better weather.

Anyway, after that, we went to Rinville, where we walked down to, and beyond, the pier.  We watched some boats sailing, and I rather liked this view of the sailing boats with a brooding Ardfry Castle behind.  It was only when looking at the photos on my tablet that I realised that one has an Irish registration on the sail and the other a British one.

After this short walk, we returned home, whereupon it promptly rained again.  We seem to be heading for some colder but slightly drier weather over the next couple of days.
