Camelia

The forecast snow didn’t materialise. We had a thin dismal cold rain instead. Probably better as any snow would have caused havoc trying to get around.

We had our first Marmite Band rehearsal this morning going through the new songs on our set list, trying to get to grips with their tempo and nuances. Plenty more rehearsals to come.

We thought the weather was going to be better this afternoon; beguiled by a glimpse of sun. No such luck. We had two heavy sleety, rainy snowy showers while out walking. The precipitation was sheeting down in drifts as we battled our way around.

Darkness was almost upon us as we spotted a Camelia bush with many blossoms already out. A tenacious and beautiful flower, a harbinger of early spring, yet still in January, and having survived those really cold days and nights before Christmas.

Yesterday’s dram was a generous shot of Lakes Whisky bought by my son as a birthday present last year. Wonderfully smooth, sweet and rich.
