I managed to get to choir rehearsal. Even though I still have very little voice, I thought I could learn by following the music, listening and trying. It worked for César Franck in Latin but Rachmaninov in Cyrrillic was too much for me.

At two separate times in my life I have known the Cyrillic alphabet but both times I have forgotten everything that doesn't occur in Greek. I had an absurd argument with someone sitting next to me, who teaches Japanese, about whether Г (gamma in Greek) is pronounced 'G' or not. Given how our choir is going to sing Russian, it's safe to say that it is. She told me I was being seduced by Greek.
