This is my wine barrel with yellow flowers. The one I asked about the other day, in the left hand gap, seems to be a dahlia, as some of you guessed. It’s a beautiful bright yellow.

Apart from yoga at my daughter’s this morning it’s been a very low key sort of day. Apart from finishing another fascinating book about Shackleton, this time by Caroline Alexander, I’m not sure whether the day went. Watering the garden took quite a while this morning, and pulling out the finished broad beans this afternoon took a while. Yes, it was hot again.
