Its the bell that (ap)peals

Went to visit daughter J, and to meet her recent adoptees. Brothers. Summer rescue kittens. J was told she was getting a brother and sister, but this one had been wrongly assigned female gender. Discovered at surgery.

In the foreground of my photo is a toy for the kittens; to pat at a ball which then runs around the circumference. S distracted him by dangling one or both the collars they will wear soon enough. The kitten was much more assertive in batting at the tingling of the bell, than he showed with rather desultory pats at the balls.
