Heavy frost

I awoke this morning to the expected white world. It was also very cold - quite a few degrees below I would guess. Apparently there is snow only a few miles away. According to the local paper (The Farnham Herald) online several collisions have been reported today on Folly Hill in Farnham because of black ice. Mr Flossmo and myself drove up Folly Hill yesterday. Water was pouring down the road and I commented at the time that it was a disaster waiting to happen given that overnight sub-zero temperatures were expected. Is it really beyond the wit of local government to take some preventative action? Fortunately we had no reason to leave the house so we stayed indoors close to the radiator.
