A day in the life

Learning by doing

One of my guitar students wanted to have a lesson today and we had another good time together. He's learning a new song that uses an accompaniment that he has difficulties figuring out but wanted to learn. We worked on the song last time we met and after a while of playing he could do it, even if it was difficult for him. Once he got home, he sent me a video of him playing it and asked what I thought about it. What he did was different to what he'd done at our lesson, he had slipped back into his old habits without noticing it himself.
When we met today, he soon got back into the feel of the new accompaniment and could play it in a more confident way than last week. Still difficult, but it came back to him quicker and his reflexes are much more secure after a week of subconscious processing. We'll meet again next week, that will be interesting.

This evening the staff working within the theatre sphere were invited for an "afterwork" at a pub in town and we had a nice time chatting away a couple of hours. One of my colleges brought her child, who was playing a lot with moms camera when she was bored, looking at photos and, after a while, also taking pictures of her own. Her mother showed her how to take a selfie and also, jokingly, mimicd the "kiss-mouth" often used by young girls. Her child immediately  picked it up. Another soul lost to the kissmouths.
