Tutorial to myself!

In this part of the UK we usually miss the worst of the snow and when it does come our way it doesn't last too long.  However overnight we had a very light covering and I wanted to experiment a little with exposure.  If you take photographs in snow and it comes out grey it's because you have not metered the scene correctly.  I took this image in a quiet corner of my garden and metered on an area of green foliage and this is what I got.  I then took a point and click shot of the same scene and it was nearly four f-stops under exposed and the snow came out grey, the meter averaged exposure of the entire frame and that's the problem.  Its good to experiment sometimes.
