Quod oculus meus videt

A Farm with a View

Wasn't expecting to wake to snow on the ground.  A walk was planned and this slight distraction wasn't going to derail the plan.  As I got ready I spotted the local fox walk passed the house, stopping to roll in the snow on a neighbour's garden before carrying on up the road.

The plan was to drive to Church Stretton and walk out to the eastern hills of The Lawley and Cher Caradoc.  Underfoot conditions were Ok, though each step seemed to have a micro slip factored in when on the roads and tracks we started out on.  This photograph shouldn't have been taken, as it was only because of a navigating mistake that we walked passed the farm.

We got out to the far end of The Lawley after about 7 miles then started the climb in three sections before reaching the summit (see extra). We stopped for a brew and sandwich before heading down the the valley between there and Caer Caradoc.  The wind was fair whistling through us as we descended and we could see some showers coming in from the west so rather than be caught up the hill in those conditions we took the low route back into Church Stretton.

In the end the walk was just under 13 miles with the detour, but for most of it we were in sunshine, albeit bitterly cold.
