Officially, its a weed

Sadly, although not entirely unexpectedly, our Prime Minister has announced her resignation. She has explained this as "the tank is empty". She has been a Prime Minister whose basic humanity and almost never-failing kindness, made most New Zealanders feel proud to be citizens of Aotearoa/New Zealand. In accord with those principles, she is blaming no one for her decision to stand aside.

Being free of anything other than my own thoughts and reactions to this, I am comfortable in blaming the unreasonable attacks on her personally, which at times became obscene in the extreme. Essentially, threats and exhortations to rape and kill her.

The claimants of 'Freedom' hijacked a protest at the Government mandate that health care workers and some other groups must be vaccinated against COVID. Those people painted a picture so far removed from reality, it was unrecognisable. Around the world, they reject evidence, claiming that it is lies, and accusing scientists, professionals and politicians of hiding the truth from the people.

As portrayed by my Blip for today, the paint a pretty picture and tell others to concentrate on the beauty of freedom while ignoring the darkness to which they consign the vulnerable by their self-serving arguments.

Agapanthus runs rampant in New Zealand and is beginning to invade the edges of the bush, strangling other plants and trees.

If our conservative party (National) wins the October election, they have only one real policy to implement; that is to lower the taxes on the highest income earners. How that will help the other 80 or 90% of the population, they trot out the well-disproved claim of trickle down.

Our country coped with the pandemic better than most countries. Both in terms of a very low deathrate per head of population, and in maintaining the economy. I have yet to understand how raising interest rates will reduce inflation. As soon as the interest rate rise was first announced supermarkets started increasing prices. Those increased prices were on goods bought and paid for before the interest rates went up. So it goes.. to quote Kurt Vonnegut Jr
