Eye on Ewe

Farms are good places for photography and having a chat with the farmer as you can learn so much from them.  This what happened to me.  This photo is one I like as it show a ewe drinking from a trough that is joined to a rusty iron bar which makes it look as if the ewe is hiding while drinking.  The extra is the same photo with the bar erased. To me the original has more mystic about it.
Sheep are left outside during the winter having been brought down from the Fells to lower pastures, but sometimes ewes need that bit extra care.  This barn forms part of what he calls his 'hospital.'  Off it is a smaller barn.  Here, in the lambing season, weak lambs are kept until strong enough to be outside.  By the way this farm is at Seathwaite, the wettest inhabited hamlet in England.
