Living my dream

Rehydration

The only way to get the soil in the tunnel house beds properly rehydrated is to put the sprinkler on. It ran for four hours today as I moved it down the long bed, one hour at each stop along the way. The tomato plants will have benefited enormously.

I have been hand watering all the tomatoes having discovered that the seepa hose wasn’t working effectively (partly because the plants are huge and need more water every day, and partly because the seepa isn’t seeping properly, likely due to low water pressure). It’s too time consuming to hand water every other day, so the sprinkler will come into play until the end of summer. I’ll have to come up with a new plan for next year.

It rained today, including an enormous thunderstorm accompanied by a serious downpour. I managed to harvest the latest raspberries without getting too wet, just as the rain started. Otherwise it’s largely been an indoors day of regular tasks.
