Analogue

..Isolation in a Digital World

A long awaited gig to see Joe Armon-Jones (+ Mala + band) at EartH,  Hackney. Essentially a jazz composer and performer but like all good jazz guys explores and collaborates with a broad range of other genres.

Review
This gig had primarily a Bass, Heavy Dub and Club influence. Inspired by the large old reggae and dub sound systems I remember from the 70s n 80s, a Sinai Sound system powered the noise and made the billing.

The band featured two saxophone/ bass clarinet players, two on drums, one electric bass, Mala on a synthesiser/ bass console and two guest solo vocalists. JAJ on electric piano as usual. The drum main drum kit drummer was highlighted within the circle of light; I really enjoyed his drum solo.

Analogue Isolation in a digital world
Heavily reliant on my smartphone as many are, managed to lose it during the gig hence issues:
* Navigating back to hotel and around London
* Train ticket on phone only
*  Buying anything ( hard a plastic card thankfully)
*  Knowing what time it is

* No communications (or contact numbers) with anyone

No close up picks on artists due to above

Reminds you how vulnerable you can instantly become when you engage and live in an ever increasingly digital and process driven world.

The EP around which the gig was arranged is here..

Apols, still on catch-up having been sorting phone, split sided car tyre, more bloods taken etc..
