The Reedcutters

Norfolk Reed has been used for thatching for hundreds of years.  Whilst in some areas of the UK straw is used for roofing, the reed is a much more durable material which can last for up to 70 years.  I passed these reedcutters on my walk this morning working hard to bring in the harvest and noticed that an artist was set up on the far side of them to capture the scene in paint.

A good circular walk from Blakeney to Cley and back around the salt marsh.  Just over three and a half miles; the stamina is good for a lot more but the knees don't agree!
