Tackling The Toughest Part

It is good that we at FBC were refreshed by the Winter Renewal Services last Sunday, Monday and Tuesday because this morning after we had come together to lift our hearts and voices in corporate worship and praise, after the choir, orchestra and various accompanists had offered up a joyful rendition of "How Can I Keep From Singing?", followed by more congregational singing, Pastor Wes took us into James 5, which he warned us ahead of time had some of the harshest words for the believers he was writing to.  He also warned us that the subject matter can be extremely difficult and controversial and easily misunderstood----the subject of wealth, including how you obtain it, what your motives are in seeking to gain it and what you do with it once you have it.  He assured us that God has nothing against wealth.  He blesses some with it, but he does not promise earthly wealth to everyone as some would have us believe, even today.  God does take issue with those who have gotten their wealth through nefarious means and those who hoard it for their own pleasures, but He also does not say that everyone must have an equal share.  He expects us to be generous with what He gives us, under His guidance so that we can share the good news about Jesus in our daily lives and around our world.  Pastor Wes had much more to say about all this which you can see and hear from the live-stream.  Just think about what you can do with what God has blessed you with this week!
