Life through the lens...

Golden Acre Park

Just back from a visit to Golden Acre Park, Leeds.
Making the most of a sunny day. Up to 19C but a very strong cold wind. Never mind we were well wrapped up.

As always we have a walk round Adel Dam Nature Reserve.
Nice to see the new board walk ( top left) as this part of the wood is quite boggy.
Because of the strong wind we didn’t expect to see many birds from the hides, but we were wrong.
The highlight was seeing the water rail. ( mid. Left )An elusive bird which we don’t see often, and never seen one here before. Didn’t get to focus the camera very well before it disappeared out of sight.
Plenty of other birds on the feeds including a nuthatch, robin and assorted tits.
We then moved on to the hide overlooking the dam itself where there were three herons, an egret, and several teal. Unfortunately no sign of the kingfisher.
Finished off with hot minestrone soup and a coffee in the cafe. Lovely and warm in the conservatory with the sunshine.

As always a very pleasant place to spend a few hours, and get some fresh air and exercise.
