A Day Out

We had a day like we haven't had in more than 3 years.  With our recent Covid, perhaps we are feeling a little invincible with our potential immunity.  Nevertheless we stayed masked most of the time.

After meeting with the project manager for our kitchen renovation, we drove into town and went to the National Gallery of Art, where we spent an hour on a docent tour about French painters and then I went to see the exhibition of Venetian Italian Renaissance painter, Carpaccio.  My husband had already seen it so he wandered through some other galleries.

After closing time, we had a wonderful dinner near Foggy Bottom (INDOORS!)  and then went to the Kennedy center for a concert by the Sphinx Orchestra and the Washington Chorus which was fabulous.  I was brought to tears (the sobbing kind of tears) during one of the pieces which has never happened to me before.  We arrived home about 11 pm pretty exhausted but enriched.

This is a photo of the Rotunda of the National Gallery, beautiful decorated with flowers, as always.

By the way, the dish "carpaccio" was named after Vittore Carpaccio, the artist of the exhibition.
