Gently down the stream

Fisher folk 3

This little egret has been hanging around the Nuns' Stream for a while.  Today I saw her in the reserve.  She's very shy and got herself into quite a flap when she saw my interest, but I stood quietly for a while so she settled down to fish.  I love seeing them stir up the silt with their yellow toes.  That's what she's doing here.  She speared her meal almost instantly (see extra).  Beautiful birds but, like herons, with those golden eyes and very fierce beaks.

Didn't see a great deal more on my walk - mainly because I bumped into two lovely friends I haven't seen for so long and we just talked and talked.  I enjoyed that!

Have a really lovely weekend, dear blipfriends  xx
