Living In The Real World

There was a dense fog advisory for our area that may have kept some from joining us in person at FBC today, but those of us who were there or who joined us via Live-stream as we lifted hearts and voices in congregational song saw and heard one thing very clearly----God is in control!  The choir, orchestra and all of our other accompanists presented an upbeat arrangement of the classic hymn, "Standing On The Promises", followed by more congregational worship and praise, before Pastor Wes took us to James 5 to finish the passage that we started last week.  He said that, in light of the first verses in the chapter, we are to do four things.  First, we are to be patient, which means that we are to leave room for God to set things right, when we are persecuted.  Second, we are to strengthen our hearts, an intentional act, not something that will just "happen " to us. Third, we are not to complain against each other, which isn't  so much about what we actually say, but the attitude of irritation that lies behind it that leads to divisions among us.  Fourth, we are to be people of our word, say what we mean, mean what we say and deal with the consequences of speaking the truth.  Pastor Wes had much more to say that explains how to put all this into action which you can find in the live-stream which would be well worth your time to watch....
