Mistletoe

The mistletoe (Viscum album) is an evergreen plant. The plant lives on trees. It is a semi-parasite: the plant depends on its host for water and salts. The mistletoe is also called bird glue or mistletoe or referred to by the English name mistletoe. The mistletoe is now also successfully cultivated.
The species is quite common in South Limburg. The mistletoe is less frequent north of South Limburg. In the Netherlands, the plant is no longer legally protected since 1 January 2017.
