Wood Cauliflower.

Walking today from the lodge so we don't use the car at all means using routes through Carrbridge Plantation and Glen Charnoch, both accessible after a short walk into Carrbridge.

During this walk we found the amazing specimen of Sparassidacaea, the woodland cauliflower which feeds on pine.

Intending to use the coffee shop in the village for lunch it was a shame to find it closed but, how fortunate, the pub was open.

Very much a spur of the moment decision we had lunch and a pint with very friendly staff and an inviting open fire before continuing around the woods.

We kept our promise to return later arriving just as the rain started for another pint (quality control purposes only!) and a dram of the local whisky.

Leaving was harder than the previous occasion, it was raining properly so the walk back was a wet one!!
