Nature Diary... Almost Flying Blind!

A dark grey day which got very slightly lighter but remained grey, chilly, and damp. Not the sort of day I'd have accepted the offer to indulge in the activity pictured here, but this person has done so. 
Did he/they launch from the cliff, or suddenly realise he/they were about to fly into it?
Whatever.
But there was no sound of the lifeboat being launched so presumably all was well. 
This photo was taken at 2.30pm and the weather stayed like this throughout the rest of the day. 
Those with boats seemed to give up today.
